On Thursday, 1 February 2018 at 9.00 EST/ 15.00 CET, WEDO invites you to the second session of a five part series on women's rights and climate finance, aiming to build knowledge and power to ensure finance flows are benefiting local women's groups, responding to community needs and respecting human rights.

This session will provide an overview of how gender equality has been mainstreamed into global climate finance mechanisms, including a deep dive on gender considerations under the Green Climate Fund by Liane Schalatek of the Heinrich Boell Foundation - North America. Participants in the session will have the opportunity to engage and share their experience of strategies and/or barriers that exist accessing climate finance at national level.

The webinar will be conducted in ENGLISH but this and our previous webinar session will be translated into French and Spanish. WEDO is in the process of identifying a service for simultaneous translation for future sessions.

About the Series

In August 2017, with the support of the Wallace Global Fund, WEDO and Both ENDS, as a member of the Global Alliance for Green and Gender Action (GAGGA), launched a new joint initative: “Women Demand ‘Gender-Just’ Climate Finance”. The initiative aims to build capacity and knowledge to track, monitor and, most importantly, influence the projects and financial flows of the Green Climate Fund (GCF). With the hope of mobilizing further resources and support, in 2018, the initiative will fund the direct participation of feminist and women’s rights activists in the work of the GCF, support regional feedback channels, work with women’s funds on strategies for direct access, and, host a webinar series.
