Congratulations to Maritessa Bravo Ares, US FWN100 '12, who was recently elected as Chair of the City of Berkeley's Commission on the Status of Women!
From Maritessa's announcement on her Facebook page:
"Grateful to be elected Chair of the City of Berkeley's Commission on the Status of Women tonight [February 25, 2015] along with Stephen Murphy as Vice Chair. A sneak peak of our work in 2015: We'll be focusing on anti-trafficking efforts, addressing safety issues and sexual assault, researching, collecting and reporting data, and focusing on policy recommendations. With so many issues affecting women and girls in our city and region, we have A LOT of work ahead of us. Also, very thankful for Council member Lori Droste's service as past chair and the commitment of my fellow commissioners."
