California State Board of Equalization (SBOE) Member Fiona Ma, celebrated the close of October, which is Domestic Violence Awareness month, by presenting her first SHEro Equalizer Award to FWN CEO & Founder, Marily Mondejar. This award is given to an individual who exemplifies the dedication and drive of a fearless female leader. Their role as an “equalizer” is to be a tireless advocate for issues and causes to further expand women’s rights.

The Filipina Women’s Network (FWN), represented by Dolly Pangan-Specht (US FWN100™'09 ) and Maria Beebe (US FWN100™'11 and Global FWN100™ '13, board member, and book co-editor) organized a book reading in collaboration with Portland State University’s Office of Global Diversity and Inclusion, Department of Anthropology, and Center for Women and Leadership. The Asian Pacific American network of Oregon (APANO) and the Council of Filipino American Associations (CFAA) also participated. Global Networks, Janet Labar, and Cynthia Reidy donated books as gifts to the readers. Tambayan and Columbia Distributing provided food and drinks.

Do not be afraid to delegate work to others. Delegate even if you know you can do the job better and more efficiently. By getting more people involved, you will be getting more people to take ownership of the work at hand. That can only be beneficial in team-building, training of new leaders, and the accomplishment of objectives.
