With $985 million - the largest leveraged buyout in America - Mogul Lewis became the 1st African American billion dealmaker. His company Beatrice International Foods made the Fortune 500 list. He was a genius freedom fighter and a wonderful family man, owned the first black firm on Wall Street, & the first ever to be accepted at Harvard Law School without applying.
After Lewis' passing in 1993, his wife, philanthropist and lawyer Loida Nicolas Lewis (Global FWN100™ '13) was elected to assume the position of Chair and CEO of TLC Beatrice International Holdings Inc.
