Global FWN100™ '16 awardees Bing Carrion and Lorna Kapunan received The Outstanding Women in Nation's Service (TOWNS) Award from the prestigious TOWNS Foundation. The award recognizes women who have "contributed positively to strengthening national capability and shaping the Philippine nation’s future and served as catalysts for economic, social and cultural development, national security and national unity by providing their time, talent and resources. The award is given every three years and the search for these women is held nationwide for a period of one year. Since its inception in 1974, TOWNS has selected 149 women."

The TOWNS Foundation was established to amass the collective talents, brains and passions of the awardees to help transform the lives of Filipinos.  

Atty. Lorna Patajo-Kapunan is an advocate for Women’s and Children’s Rights as well as the Environment and Animal rights.  She has the distinction of being the first to have obtained a Writ of Kalikasan from the Supreme Court for her West Tower/Barangay Bangkal Oil Spill Case. On the economic front, Atty. Kapunan is the Legal Counsel of Kilusang Makabansang Ekonomiya (KME) which advocates economic nationalism and champions the fight against poverty and corruption in all branches of the Government.
