ASK A FILIPINA: #6 DISRUPT Leadership Tip From Michele Bumgarner, INDYCAR Race Driver, Global FWN100™ '13

Michele Bumgarner

"Follow Your Heart. It may sound simple, but sometimes people try and talk you out of your dreams that to them may seem crazy. When your heart says “go,” do not let anyone stop you. No matter how many “no’s,” how many hurdles, how much time it may take, do not stop. Just do not stop. You will never be who you are meant to be, if you do not follow your heart!"

ASK A FILIPINA: #4 DISRUPT Leadership Tip from Sterling HSA CEO, Cora Manese Tellez, Global FWN100™ '13

"Young Filipina women complain that outside of the Philippines, Filipina women are subject to stereotypes: we are supposed to be shy, modest, retiring, hard-working, but not assertive, meaning, we are not leadership material. In my professional history, I have relished destroying those stereotypes. I began by destroying those views inside my head, as often our mental models impair us long before we go to work. When self-image is positive, strong, and confident, there is no leadership position we cannot tackle!"

How Football Forced Major League Baseball To Wake Up On Domestic Violence

How Football Forced Major League Baseball To Wake Up On Domestic Violence

Kiley Kroh on Thinkprogress.org: “Unlike the NFL, baseball wasn’t forced to enter crisis mode last summer and instead wanted ‘to address it in a way that is authentic, would be lasting and make sense, rather than being reactive,' Halem said. As a result, baseball has emerged as a point of comparison with the NFL, whose policies both before and after the Rice incident have been roundly criticized.”

Growing up with strong grandmothers and a strong mother, in a country under the leadership of Philippine President Corazon Aquino, Analisa always had strong female role models. Analisa made it her life's mission to address the gender inequality that women face globally.

At Womensphere, Analisa is dedicated to advancing women's leadership in business and markets; science and technology; education and academia; media, culture, and the arts; law, policy and government; sustainability and development; and entrepreneurship and social innovation.

Analisa holds an MBA from Harvard Business School; a BA in Economics & Mathematics cum laude from Mount Holyoke College; and the International Baccalaureate Diploma from Lester Pearson United World College in Canada, as a Scholar of the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and the Ayala Foundation.
