Bayanihan, the Philippine National Folk Dance Company, won the Tempio d’Oro (Gold Temple Award) or the Grand Prize during the 60th International Folklore Festival of the 70th edition of the Sagra del Mandorlo in Fiore on February 22 held in Agrigento, Sicily, Italy.

Filipino Barista to compete in Latte Art competition

Young overseas Filipino worker Mark Chan will be the first ever Filipino barista to compete and represent the Philippines in the World Latte Art Championship in Gothenburg, Sweden this July.  Mark won the top prize of representing the Philippines in the most esteemed latte art competition during the 1st Philippine National Art Latte Championship held in Paranaque City.

A domestic worker from the Philippines who moonlights as a photographer in Hong Kong will be leaving her job in May to pursue a dream career in New York. Xyza Cruz Bacani, 27, has been selected as one of seven Human Rights Fellows by the Magnum Foundation. This summer, she will spend six weeks studying at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. Way to go, Xyza!
