Kudos to Genevieve Villafranca Jopanda, Global FWN100 ‘13, who was recently appointed as Director of External Affairs for California State Board of Equalization member Fiona Ma.
Genevieve is a San Francisco Bay Area native who has been feeding her passion for community advocacy for the past 20 years, focusing on Anti-Domestic Violence awareness, Veterans Equity, Health Equity, College-Career transition mentoring, and teaching positive alternatives to at risk youth through art.
Genevieve was most recently the executive director of San Francisco Hep B Free Campaign, a first-of-its-kind collaboration between city government, healthcare organizations, community groups, and businesses to make San Francisco the first city in the nation to be Hep B Free and serve as a model for national and global efforts to eliminate Hepatitis B.
Genevieve is a former board member of the Filipina Women's Network and a founding editor of FWN's V-Diaries, its anti-violence resource guide and playbill for its annual fundraising production of "The Vagina Monologues", a key component of FWN's Filipinas Against Violence campaign.
Genevieve is also a founding member of KAYA: Filipino Americans for Progress born from the Filipinos for Obama 2008 campaign. KAYA led 100 of the top national Filipino Community leaders to hold the first White House Initiatives on AAPI’s briefing for the Fil Am community.
