AT&T AND WARNERMEDIA ANNOUNCE $7M COMMITMENT TO COMBAT AND CONFRONT ANTI-ASIAN HATE

The fight for social justice continues as hate crimes occur in the Asian, Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. The increase in reported violence may be attributed to prejudices associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, however these types of racism-fueled attacks and microaggressions are not new to the AAPI community. Together let’s stand…for each other, for our communities, for equality for all.

Foundation for Filipina Women's Network Statement on Atlanta Murder of Asian Women

Message From The CEO

We grieve for the senseless deaths of eight individuals - six Asian women - four of Korean descent, murdered by a white man in a string of Atlanta-area spas.

We are furious that Atlanta authorities quickly determined that it was the murderer's "sexual addiction" and the shootings "do not appear to be" motivated by race. Yet, it appears that this man only frequented Asian spas.

We urge President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to take action now not just a memo. The #StopAAPIHate site has collected over 3,800 reports of anti-Asian hate since March 2020, with "Asian American women reporting hate incidents twice as men." Violence against Asian women has to STOP now.

We call on local and state governments to create infrastructures and resources to educate law enforcement and community leaders on xenophobia and invest in actions to prevent unprovoked anger and protections for Asian Americans.

We invite our allies to stand in solidarity with Foundation for Filipina Women's Network so our voices together can stop anti-Asian racism, end violence against Asian women, and protect women in all walks of life especially those who work in spas, salons, and jobs that require women of color to travel at night and use public transportation.

Follow FFWN on Twitter at @filipinawomen, and tell us how you are helping your Asian sisters.
