CSU Monterey Bay's Visual and Public Art Department is hosting a Visiting Artist Series with Filipina journalist Lila Ramos Shahani on March 17th from 6-8 pm. The free talk is part of the VPA Department's Songs for Women Living with War forum.

Lila Ramos Shahani is the Assistant Secretary of the Human Development and Poverty Reduction Cabinet Cluster and Spokesperson for the Advocacy and Communications Group of the Inter-Agency Council against Human Trafficking for the Philippine Government.

FWN Launches the Tacloban 34 Women Microfinance Fund in Tacloban

On January 20th, Filipina Women’s Network and the Filipina Women Global Fund launched the Tacloban 34 Women Fund, a micro enterprise revolving loan fund for 34 women residents of Habitat for Humanity Kawayanville in Tacloban, Leyte. The initiative was financed by funds raised for Rebuild Tacloban. 

The 34 women of Kawayanville pitched to Filipina Women’s Network the small businesses they intend to establish to meet the much-needed services in their newly-built community after Typhoon Yolanda destroyed their families, homes and businesses.
